February 2014, Volunteer Notes
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! We enter February hoping for this Minnesota winter to let go! As the cold continues some of our volunteers and coordinators are leaving for warmer places for awhile. You may notice some new faces on your shift as we move folks around or have subs filling in for them. Some of you may be helping by opening and closing and being the “lead” person for a time or two. Thanks so much for helping to keep the food shelf running smoothly.
Here is another “Save the Date” reminder for our Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. It will be held on April 21st most probably at St. Joseph’s again this year. The invitation will come out confirming the location and other information with your April schedule in late March.
The Walk on Waconia committee has asked if we would try an recruit some volunteers to help out that day. It is April 26th. The Food Shelf is the recipient of food donations and a generous check from this event. They particularly are asking for people willing to stand at intersections and direct the walkers/runners that day. If you have a spouse that might be interested that would be fine as well. Please contact Marty Cramer and I will forward the name to the committee. Several Board members have already committed to volunteering.
Once again, thanks for all you do to make the food shelf a welcoming and helpful place for our families. Stay warm!
