October Volunteer Notes 2015
We are officially into the fall season now. We will see the donations of apples, squash and pumpkins rather than cucumbers and tomatoes! We have had an awesome amount of fresh produce donated this year. The clients love it! Thanks to anyone who donated “extra’s” from their garden!
We have exciting news from the food shelf! Beginning October 1st we will be an independent non-profit organization. We will be transitioning from being under the CAP Agency umbrella to being our own entity. They have been a great partner for the past 12 years but we are now able to run our own agency thanks to the support of our great community! There will not be a noticeable change in operations, only on the business end.
We had the carpet cleaned over the NIckle Dickle Day weekend since we were not open that Saturday. Please, there is a container of spot remover under the sink, if there is a spill or you notice a spot, treat it. We only have the carpet cleaned once a year, and it helps if we stay on top of it.
On a sad note, one of our long-time volunteers, Joe Koppi, has passed away. Joe volunteered on Monday mornings and was the coffee maker and manned the welcome desk. We will miss seeing him at the food shelf.
For our Friday volunteers, we have said good by to Jayne Gassen as a co-coordinator. She promises she will come back to volunteer now and then. We will miss her smile and her energy! Marit will continue to be the Friday coordinator as we explore options to support her.
October is a more quiet month with no special handouts, except for the raffle winners.
Enjoy the lovely fall days! Here is a thought for you! “The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.” ~Deanne Hollis
Thank you all for your commitment!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
